The Arc of Indiana Master Trust offers two trust programs. Trust I, established in 1988, helps families provide for the financial future of their loved one without affecting eligibility for government benefits such as SSI, SSDI and Medicaid. Trust II, established in 1995, allows people with disabilities to save their own money in a trust – often with funds received through an inheritance, back payment from social security, or a personal injury settlement – allowing them to maintain eligibility for government benefits. The Arc Master Trust serves people of all disabilities, people with mental illness, and people 65+. Melissa Justice has served as senior trust officer since 2008 and has been with the trust's parent organization, The Arc of Indiana, since 1995.

On this day 30 years ago, The Arc Master Trust II was officially established. The Arc Master Trust II is a first-party special needs trust, meaning it allows individuals with disabilities to put their own money into a trust. Before 1995, beneficiaries of The Arc Master Trust could only fund a trust through a third-party donor, such as a relative or other loved one. The creation of the Trust II gave people more freedom to use their own money while also protecting their Medicaid benefits. In the many years since, we have opened 6,821 Trust II accounts with more than 5,000 of those account still active today. We are excited to celebrate this significant milestone and look forward to many more years of helping our beneficiaries!
