Today and every day, we celebrate the amazing women who are changing the world and creating change for individuals with I/DD! We see you and we appreciate you! ????
Mothers like Ann Greenberg, Elizabeth Boggs, and Eleanor Elkins turned personal struggles into powerful action, laying the foundation for The Arc. Disabled leaders like Judy Heumann and Lois Curtis made sure the fight for disability rights was led by the people most impacted. Today, women are still leading the charge. Women in direct support professional roles make up 87% of the workforce. And from policymakers to leaders at the helm of organizations such as The Arc, women are empowering people with disabilities to thrive. On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the trailblazers who built this movement—and the women shaping its future. Want to dive deeper?
