It was an honor to host the October meeting of the Arc Chapters of Massachusetts Marketing Strategy Group meeting at The Arc of Greater Brockton today. Together, we brainstormed on how to best leverage our collective resources to amplify our messages. Then we had a great presentation from former ABC television reporter and crisis communications consultant T.J. Winick. Last, but certainly not least, we strategized with incoming Arc of Massachusetts Executive Maura Sullivan on how we can communicate our advocacy messages most coherently and effectively. ???Exciting Milestone: Our First Technology Seminar!??? We are proud to announce that The Arc of Greater Brockton has launched our digital literacy initiative, made possible by a generous $20,000 grant from AT&T! ?? Today, we hosted our inaugural seminar, welcoming around 30 participants eager to explore the transformative benefits of the internet and social media. We discussed how technology can enhance networking, education, and entertainment in our lives. In addition, we tackled crucial safety topics such as cyberbullying, identity theft, and the risks associated with online interactions. Empowering our community with knowledge is key to navigating the digital landscape safely! Each participant received a certificate, marking the start of our journey to bridge the digital divide for individuals of all abilities. We have also purchased new iPads and laptop computers for our participants to use. We'll be buying more innovative and assistive technology for our participants soon as well. Stay tuned for more seminars and workshops as we continue to empower our community through technology! As part of our ongoing celebrations for National Direct Support Professionals Week, we set up a delicious Continental Breakfast from Panera for them this morning. It's just one more way of saying "thank you" to the people who are so instrumental in making our organization great. Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming five incredible volunteers from the United Way of Greater Plymouth County including four from SCU Credit Union and one from United Way itself. It’s The United Way’s effort to encourage people to connect with the community and make some new friends. Their efforts here were a massive success. They brought so much joy and energy to our community by: Playing card games with our participants; helping out with our bingo game; volunteering in our Redemption Center; shooting hoops outside; and joining our dance party. September 11th will always be a solemn day, but it's still awesome to see the community come together to uplift one another in honor of those we lost.
