The holidays are a time when, among other things, holiday tipping becomes a consideration in recognition of the service provided by building personnel. Given the rate of inflation and other factors which have occurred recently, the act of remembering the building staff members is of particular importance this year. To reduce some of the stress and confusion about holiday tipping, we offer this brief guide both for residents and boards. The following are ranges for tips and are largely dependent upon the size of the building, the services provided by building personnel, as well as the number of personal interactions which occurred over the year. SUGGESTED RESIDENT AMOUNTS: Superintendent: Cash or gift of $100 to $500. Doormen/Concierge: Cash or gift of $50 to $250. Porter and other staff members: Cash or gift of $50 to $100. SUGGESTED BOARD AMOUNTS: Superintendent: Cash or gift of $1,000 to $5,000. Doormen/Concierge: Cash or gift of $750 to $3,000. Porter and other staff members: Cash or gift of $500 to $1,500. If tips have been provided throughout the year to any given staff member, then a remembrance of a lesser amount can be given. It’s important to keep in mind that even if you don’t see or interact with a staff member, they still provide a service to the building and, by extension, to you. So, cash or a gift of $50 or more would be appropriate for them. Our hope is that you find this guide useful. Wishing you all the best for the holidays! #nycrealestate #nyrealestate #newyorkrealestate #realestateny #nycliving #commercialrealestate #property #investment #condo #coop #buildingmanagement #facilitymanagement #propertymanagement #buildingmaintenance #buildingmanager #buildingservices #holidayseason #holidaygiving

City Council has just introduced a bill that would allow the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) to charge property owners of buildings with 10 units or more a fee of up to $55 per unit for costs related to the new containerization program. This directly goes against DSNY’s long-standing commitment of providing free services to NYC taxpayers and places a disproportionate financial burden onto the shoulders of co-op and condo residents. Co-op and condo living is often the only affordable path to homeownership for many New York City residents, and yet they seem to consistently be singled out by policy makers to bear the brunt of the cost for citywide legislative initiatives. The proposed bill is currently under review. Andrews Organization is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as more information arises. #nycrealestate #nyrealestate #newyorkrealestate #realestateny #nycliving #commercialrealestate #property #investment #condo #coop #buildingmanagement #facilitymanagement #propertymanagement #buildingmaintenance #buildingmanager #buildingservices #garbagecollection #garbagebin #citytrashbin #nyctrashrules Council of New York Cooperatives & Condominiums
