The future of inclusive I/DD supports can only be as strong as those who lead the fight for equitable communities. That’s why?The ANCOR Foundation?invests in programs like its Leadership Academy, which aims to unleash a diverse array of leaders to be creative change-makers in their communities—to help create a pathway for rising leaders like?Maghan Bowman. Since graduating from the Foundation's Leadership Academy, Maghan has been promoted to Executive Operations Director for her agency, Exceptional Persons, Inc. She has also moved into her role as Co-Chair of ANCOR’s Board of Representatives. “Professional development has always been important to me: never settle, and never stop learning,” Maghan says. “The Leadership Academy provided me with opportunities that not only humbled me, but challenged me in my professional development.” Take action today to support the next generation of inclusive leaders in the I/DD community:?https://lnkd.in/grmWtwtt

Thank you for helping us continue to expand the ANCOR Foundation Leadership Academy! When we invest in a more inclusive future, we are all the beneficiaries. And when the ANCOR Foundation added mentoring to the curriculum, it proved to be a great experience for both the mentees and the mentors. With your support, the Academy will continue to impact its participants, and we can all witness the strong outcomes, but most importantly, the individuals with I/DD that we support reap the benefits of dynamic and visionary leadership in I/DD services. We are excited that a generous donor has offered to match all donations up to $5,000. We are so close to that goal—can you get us over the top? You can double your money by donating today: https://lnkd.in/gjeTfZ6K

    • Quote from Bonnie-Jean Brooks that reads: "I have been so honored to serve as a Leadership Academy mentor. I've learned as much from my mentees as they have learned from me through our mutual active listening and open dialogue. It is amazing to see former Leadership Academy graduates now holding key leadership roles in ANCOR, the ANCOR Foundation, and in their own organizations. They exemplify the success of the Leadership Academy."

The ANCOR Foundation's Leadership Academy creates a pathway for emerging leaders in the I/DD services field. Erica Buchanan, MS NPA is one of those community-changing leaders. A member of the Leadership Academy’s class of 2022, Erica has gone on to lead well beyond the organization she heads. In 2023, she joined the ANCOR Foundation Board of Directors, and in 2024, she was appointed to the ANCOR Board of Directors. Erica has also served as a mentor for other Leadership Academy participants. With the help of an anonymous donor who will match gifts up to $5,000 this month, the ANCOR Foundation is investing in the next generation of leaders in our field. Make your gift today and help us lay the groundwork for a more inclusive future: https://lnkd.in/grmWtwtt

Families can be...complicated, right? Even more so when there are folks with disabilities and/or chronic conditions in the mix. I think community IDD providers are quite good at connecting and collaborating with parents of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they support and advocate for their sons and daughters. But what about siblings? Are we doing as much as we can to ensure that brothers and sisters are involved in their sibling's support (if they want them to be) and have the resources and networks they need if/when they need to become a primary point of contact? Are providers seeing siblings as the potential allies and communicators they could be as they strive to support people with IDD to live and thrive as independently as possible? This Wednesday begins ANCOR's Summer Access and Inclusion Webinar Series, and this year, we're focused on siblings. I am so energized to spend time with amazing advocates and professionals like Shea Tanis, Harriet Redman, Emma (Shouse) Garton and Brandi Foreman as they reflect on their own sibling experiences, as well as their work in our field, and share ideas, options and possibilities for providers to consider as we all work together in support of people with IDD and their (entire) families. There is still time to register. Join us! https://lnkd.in/e54tSmJR
