Thank you to Lord mayor of dublin Emma Blain for recognising the importance of dementia awareness and the work we do to support people living with dementia and their families. Our wonderful Ambassador Pamela Laird, MBA represented us at the official photocall in the Mansion House last week. The Charity Ball will take place on Saturday, 10th May 2025 in the beautiful The Round Room at the Mansion House, with the evening fully sponsored by EHL Experiences, The Round Room, FIRE Steakhouse & Bar , SOLE Seafood & Grill, and SAINT Studios Dublin. Remember, I'm still me The clock whispers secrets, a language unknown, Numbers dance and blur, a seed that's overgrown. They say it’s ten past three, but the sun hangs too low, A familiar confusion, a chilling, silent snow. My hands, these old friends, now strangers I see, Fumbling with buttons, a mockery of me. They used to knit warmth, build castles so tall, Now they tremble and falter, answering memory’s call. The faces around me, a comforting blur, I search for a name, a connection to stir. My daughter, they say, with eyes bright and bold, But the word echoes empty, a story untold. She smiles, a sweet gesture, familiar and kind, But where is the laughter, the bond we entwined? I reach for her hand, a desperate plea, To unlock the past, and simply… remember me. My home, once a haven, a landscape transformed, Each corner a riddle, a new terror formed. The furniture shifts, the walls seem to breathe, And I wander, a ghost, unable to believe. They tell me I walked here, lived here for years, But the echoes are hollow, fuelled by my fears. I search for a landmark, a scent, or a sign, To tether my soul to this place that was mine. My thoughts, scattered fragments, like leaves in the breeze, A kaleidoscope swirling, offering little ease. I chase after stories, they vanish like dew, Leaving only the ache of what I used to know. I try to hold tight, to grasp at the thread, To weave back the tapestry lying here dead. But the loom is broken, the colors all fade, Lost in the shadows this darkness has made. So please, be patient, with this fading light, This prisoner trapped in the lonely, long night. See past the confusion, the vacant, lost gaze, And remember the spirit, that lingers always. For beneath the fog, a soul still remains, Yearning for comfort, escaping the chains. Speak softly my name, and hold my hand tight, Help me find my way, back into the light. And when I forget you, as I surely will do, Know that in my heart, I’m still searching for you. For it's not just a mind that is slowly erased, But a life, a love, in this desolate space. ??Olivia Merriman wrote this heartfelt poem for her amazing mam who's living with Alzheimer's.??

A heartfelt poem by Evelyn honoring her father, Liam, who was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2022 and passed peacefully in August 2023. ''Dad was a Farmer. Loved Nature. A loving Father with a great wit and sharpness. Having the support system of the ASI during a very difficult time was incredibly important to the family. It threw us? a lifeline and was so very much appreciated.'' she said.
