The Alliance for Green Commercial Banks (Alliance) is a global initiative convened by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to develop a community of banks in emerging markets to accelerate the green transformation in the banking sector and urgently address climate change. The Alliance was jointly launched in November 2020 by IFC and its founding member and first regional anchor, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). In June 2022, five of the world’s leading financial institutions - Bank of China (Hong Kong), Citi, Crédit Agricole CIB, HSBC, and Standard Chartered - joined the Alliance as cornerstone members.
