How do we find our way in this troubled, liminal time? To see more clearly the path ahead, we need to bring together three powerful + intersecting lenses. We need to look inward with care, look outward with curiosity, and then look forward with courage. These are the core practices of Climate Wayfinding —?our flagship program. 关于我们
When we think about the climate crisis and the transformation required to address it, it can be easy to focus on the “what” (solutions, such as clean electricity) and the “how” (accelerators for change, such as policy), while overlooking the critical “who” — the people, communities, and networks that make transformation possible. That’s where we center our attention. To nurture the “we” for all we can save — a leaderful climate community to grow a life-giving future — we use the tools of narrative change, community building, and deep learning. Throughout, we tend the emotional-spiritual root from which climate leadership grows, building a sense of courage, authentic power, and joy in the work for a life-giving future.

Julia Kim-Cohen, PhD trained as a Climate Wayfinding facilitator last year. Then, she brought the program into her classroom at the University of Illinois Chicago. The experience has transformed her view of what’s possible in climate education—and transformed her personally at the same time. You can read her story here: https://lnkd.in/gwZZSg2B

Last year, we ran a Climate Wayfinding experiment — tailoring our flagship program for a community of climate-concerned women in philanthropy. Together with our friends at Women Moving Millions & Omega Institute for Holistic Studies we convened a wonderful crew to journey together. Emerging from Climate Wayfinding, the group reported feeling clear-eyed, connected, and courageous. We’re excited to witness the ripples of impact now spreading. “I vow to love this Earth” ?? Our nourishment for February comes Dr. Kim Ruffin, a scholar and trained nature connection guide, currently completing a book about the environmental legacy of America’s enslaved ancestors. She invites you to enjoy nature connection with “A Forest Walk,” her audio-guided practice. Kim originally offered this poem as part of The Living Altar, an exhibition that pays audiovisual homage to our planet; witness it come to life as a video here: https://lnkd.in/eaKY-wpN

Sending y’all warm solstice wishes. We’re thinking of Margaret Atwood’s lines from “Shapechangers in Winter” ??? This is the solstice, the still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight, the year’s threshold and unlocking, where the past lets go of and becomes the future; the place of caught breath, the door of a vanished house left ajar. (Find the full poem in Atwood’s "Morning in the Burned House.") Solstice collage by our talented friends at Ampersand
