The Advocate is presenting a virtual roundtable discussion with trans teens from the nonprofit organization The GenderCool Project on October 23 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The talk will be moderated by queer journalist and book author Nico Lang. Lang's book "American Teenager: How Trans Kids Are Surviving Hate and Finding Joy in a Turbulent Era" came out earlier this month. AmericanTeenager explores the experiences of growing up trans the U.S. The ACLU has tracked hundreds of anti-trans bills over the last couple of years, and Republican politicians have made trans youth a prime target in political attacks, especially trans youth in sports. The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists (NLGJA)?announced today that The Advocate is the 2024 recipient of the Legacy Award. We toasted Pride and Broadway last night, when we honored The Advocate's Pride coverstar The Wiz's Wayne Brady along with Out coverstar Merrily We Roll Along's Jonathan Groff at NYC's Somewhere, Nowhere. Our community's favorite weather man, WABC-TV's Sam Champion was our host for the night. He also welcomed special appearances by Drag Race's Nina West and Tituss Burgess! Happy Pride everyone!
