Youth experiencing homelessness are 10x more likely to attempt suicide compared to their stably housed peers. This is why supportive relationships and stable environments for all youth are critical. TGTHR provides support groups and mental health services to youth in our care, and we consistently prioritize each individual's well-being above all else. This November, for Homeless Youth Awareness Month, consider gifting TGTHR to support life-saving programs for young people in Colorado. ?? SO MUCH GOOD NEWS AT TGTHR THIS MONTH! ?? - We had three move-ins this month in our housing programs - Also, three move-outs with tenant-based vouchers (meaning they have found permanent housing outside of TGTHR facilities) - Three tenants obtained employment - Staff have been creating more pro-social activities for youth onsite and in the community - Four tenants who were at risk of losing housing were able to maintain their units due to their engagement with their TGTHR transition specialists #endingyouthhomelessness #preventinghomelessness #gainingemployment #community #findingstablehousing #TGTHR

For the past few months, TGTHR volunteer Elisabeth has made a remarkable impact by providing free haircuts to youth throughout our programs, helping to boost their confidence and foster a sense of dignity. It’s incredible to see how a simple haircut can elevate a person’s sense of self. Youth leave her salon chair with their heads held high, transformed by the experience. Elisabeth takes the time to connect with each individual, offering not just haircuts but also kindness and encouragement. As Elisabeth continues to provide this valuable service, we are reminded of the lasting impression volunteers make. Together, we are making a difference — one haircut at a time. Thank you, Elisabeth!! If you or someone you know is a skilled stylist in the Denver area and would be interested in offering haircuts to Nest56 tenants, please reach out to Allison Regoli: [email protected].

1 in 10 youth experience homelessness every year. Some of the most common contributing factors include young people aging out of the foster care system without supports in place, young people who identify as LGBTQ+ and are not safe or welcome at home, young people whose family are experiencing poverty or homelessness, and young people who are exposed to abuse or neglect at home. These situations affect more families than we might think. November is Homeless Youth Awareness Month so help us raise awareness of this very real issue! Tell your friends & family so they can support TGTHR's work ending youth homelessness this season. This month marks a major milestone — the 5-year anniversary of the opening of our 1440 Pine facility! This building offers 40 units of supportive housing to young adults ages 18-24. As we reflect on the past five years, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude for all the incredible work many staff and young people have put into making this building a true community and helping young people move out of homelessness. In November 2019, our doors opened with the arrival of dozens of young adults, some coming from The Source (TGTHR's emergency shelter) and others coming directly from the streets. It was an exciting but challenging time as we worked tirelessly to get them settled and provide the care and resources they needed. We've been continuously inspired by the dedication young residents here have, the challenges they have overcome, and the goals they have achieved. Since opening 1440 Pine: 119 young people have had safe housing 104 young people have received mental health services 81 young people have gone back to school & gotten jobs 98% of tenants have engaged in voluntary supportive services 67 young people have moved on to stable housing outside of TGTHR Here's to 5 more years of continued impact & community!

When Rosie knocked on The Source's door last week, she was at a crossroads. After months of living in her boyfriend's car and facing an increasingly dangerous situation sleeping in local parks as temperatures dropped, the 20-year-old found her way to our shelter seeking help. For two years, Rosie had navigated the challenges of homelessness while trying to maintain steady employment. The harsh realities of her situation — frequent nighttime relocations leading to tardiness, workplace stigma, and eventual job losses — had taken their toll. When she arrived at The Source, her primary concern wasn't just finding shelter; it was escaping the visible markers of homelessness that had led to discrimination and feelings of shame. The TGTHR team sprang into action with a comprehensive approach to help Rosie exit the cycle of homelessness. Within days, we connected her with medical care, provided essential clothing, and ensured she had a safe, warm bed — basic necessities that many take for granted. The impact was immediate: in less than a week, Rosie had secured employment and was already taking on overtime hours. With the immediate pressure of job-hunting relieved, Rosie began to flourish in other ways. She started building meaningful connections with staff and fellow youth at The Source, and took the proactive step of scheduling her first appointment with our clinical team. Rosie's rapid progress highlights what we've long known at TGTHR: often, young people facing housing instability simply need a stable foundation and supportive environment to begin rebuilding their lives. As she continues to set and achieve new goals on her path to permanent housing, Rosie's determination serves as a powerful reminder of why we do this work. #endingyouthhomelessness #youthspotlight #youthstories #homelessyouthawarenessmonth #TGTHR #youthprograms
