The Artist + Researcher program (ARx) brought together talented Phoenix artists and brilliant researchers from Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix, TGen, and local biotech companies to create something truly unique! After nine months of collaboration, inspired by groundbreaking life science research, the ARx teams unveiled eight powerful works of art across sculpture, painting, and digital mediums. Each piece tells a story of innovation and creativity, blending science and artistry in new, thought-provoking ways. ? One of these pieces, Metastasize vs. Mathematize, was done by Team KamelBac, which is comprised of artist @bacpac_live and TGen scientist, Kamel Lahouel. The mini-mural uses an aluminum frame and panel with a metallic finish to depict a tumor with mutant cells and flow cells—representing each of us—and projects a mathematical formula designed to detect cancer early using circulating DNA fragments. This artwork shows how math can powerfully challenge cancer, helping us see and understand its mutations. ???? #ArtAndScience #PhoenixArt #Bioscience #Research #Cancer ?? : Phoenix Bioscience Core

Purple Pansies Pancreatic Cancer Organization was founded in 2009 following the passing of Maria Fundora’s mother from pancreatic cancer. The pansy flower was selected because of its strength and resilience during the winter – reminding Maria that you can survive anything and to continue the fight against pancreatic cancer. To date, Purple Pansies have raised over $5 million, and supported TGen, part of City of Hope, in groundbreaking research and clinical trials. We encourage you to wear purple in honor of Thursday's #WorldPancreaticCancerDay #Research #Cancer #FYP #ForYouPage #PurplePansies #worldpancreaticcancerday #PancreaticCancerAwareness #EarlyDetection #PancreaticCancerResearch #PurpleForPancreaticCancer #PurpleforaPurpose

TGen, a part of City of Hope, is proud of the work we have done around diabetes research. Researchers like Johanna DiStefano, Ph.D., professor and head of TGen’s Diabetes and Fibrotic Disease Unit, are committed to research that improves precision medicine for patients. TGen's research focuses on identifying the genes that cause diseases like diabetes and diabetic kidney disease. The institute uses translational genomics research to develop new diagnostics, therapies, and prognostics for diabetes and other diseases.
