When Should AI/ML Be Used in Product Support Modeling and Analysis? ? Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have revolutionized data processing, offering unmatched capabilities in analyzing large, complex logistics datasets. These technologies are invaluable for generating the input data needed for system-based modeling. However, while their potential is undeniable, AI/ML should complement—not replace—established analytical processes. ? AI/ML shines in tasks like demand pattern analysis and stock forecasting but struggles with broader challenges like optimizing entire Product Support Networks. Proven algorithms and specialized Support Modeling Tools often provide more precise outputs, particularly when dealing with repair loops, administrative delays, and contractual obligations. ? The key is balance. AI/ML is excellent for historical data analysis and simulation but may fall short when predictive insights require nuanced, bottom-up approaches. TFD’s methodology combines advanced tools and experienced personnel to ensure optimized support networks. Whether through consultancy or training, TFD equips organizations to achieve more with smarter ownership strategies. ? Last week?the #Japanese delegation from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) visited ILIAS Solutions to learn more about the ILIAS Deployed and Disconnect capabilities, especially designed for the #Navies of this world. MHI is currently designing an enhanced successor for the Mogami Class #Frigate. For this enhanced frigate MHI is interested in ILIAS Deployed and Disconnect capabilities. Seaborne assets will have an #onboard asset management system allowing the crew to work fully #autonomously from shore bound asset management systems. ILIAS Solutions offer the #Navy the capability to stay autonomous and disconnected, without using any internet connection, for 90 days and beyond. When desired by the ship’s XO, and only then, a connection between ship and shore is established within the maximum bandwidth and duration that is permitted. ILIAS’s onboard and shore bound systems will then synchronize. Having a full ILIAS system aboard a ship will allow MHI to further optimize necessary frigate crew levels. ILIAS’s fully #digital military maintenance and supply environment significantly boosts maintenance and supply efficiency levels. On the 10th and 11th July, TFD Europe will be exhibiting at Team Defence Information 24 (DI24), in Thornbury, Bristol. In a time of increasing tensions around the world, the need for fast and effective decision making, that impacts the acquisition and support of complex Systems is becoming more prevalent across the Defence Industry. TFD seek to build alliances and form collaborations at the event, with a view to providing data driven Support Modelling and Analysis (SM&A) Consultancy, Decision Tools?and Services, that can positively impact MOD and Industry Support Programmes. With 40 years of experience in this field, these Tools and Services are proven to improve Cost, Performance and Readiness of System Support. ? Our exhibitors, Fergus Hawkins, and Simon Pethick would be delighted to discuss and demonstrate our capabilities during the event and hopefully establish opportunities for subsequent detailed presentations following the conclusion of DI24.? ? ‘Do More For Less’ Fergus Hawkins BEng MSc MSc CEng MIET Allan Goody Simon Pethick PGDip CMgr MCMI

This week, we wrapped up the first-ever ILS/IPS and S-Series User Forum in Tokyo; we're filled with gratitude and inspiration. This event has been a major success, largely thanks to the exceptional efforts of Kuno-san from EvaAviation Aviation/TFD Group Japan, alongside Allan Goody and Shoichi Sugiyama. Their dedication was crucial in bringing this groundbreaking forum to life. We're also immensely grateful for the robust support from Phil Williams, Phillipa Arter, and Paul Cramers, whose encouragement and backing were pivotal. Their contributions have not only made this seminar possible but also exceptionally rewarding. As the weekend approaches, we reflect on the innovative discussions and look forward to future collaborations. #EvaLogisticsSeminar #DefenseInnovation #SuccessfulWeek #IndustryLeaders
