Dallas College is joining other colleges to strengthen the North Texas workforce. We're proud to be partnering with SMU, UTA, UNT and a network of 26 organizations in the Texoma Innovation Engine — an NSF-funded initiative designed to drive logistics innovation. This project is bolstered by a $1 million award through the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Regional Innovation Engines program. Dallas College’s School of Engineering, Technology, Mathematics and Sciences and the School of Manufacturing and Industrial Technology will work with UNT’s G. Brint Ryan College of Business and College of Engineering to advance the logistics industry as an economic driver in the Texoma Region through research, logistics innovation and expediting laboratory-to-market technology transfer. We are thrilled to announce that Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) has been selected as the winner of the CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute, selected by U.S. Department of Commerce, CHIPS for America and CHIPS Research and Development (R&D) Office, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The SMART USA (Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Research with Twins USA) Institute will have combined funding totaling $1 billion and is expected to launch in 2025. ? “We are honored by CHIPS for America's recognition of the impact that the SMART USA Institute will have in driving semiconductor innovation. Our selection as the CHIPS Manufacturing USA institute reaffirms our importance to a vibrant ecosystem," said Dr. Todd Younkin, Executive Director of SMART USA. "At its core, the SMART USA Manufacturing Institute is about bringing people together to harness their collective strengths and expertise. Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the first?Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $4.1M has been extended to Texoma Semiconductor Tech Hub member Intelligent Epitaxy Technology, Inc. (#IntelliEPI) for their new 30,000-square-foot?wafer production facility in Allen, Texas, which is expected to create more than $41 million in capital investment and nearly triple the company’s annual wafer production. IntelliEPI manufactures and sells epitaxy-based compound wafers that are used in telecommunications, photonics, radio frequency and microwave technologies, and other high-performance applications. Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Economic Development Administration announced more than 12,000 American workers have been trained and placed into jobs through the?Good Jobs Challenge. The program, initially funded by the Biden-Harris Administration’s American Rescue Plan, is investing a historic $500 million into high-quality, locally-led workforce training programs across the country.
