Dallas College is joining Southern Methodist University, The University of Texas at Arlington, University of North Texas and 26 organizations in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Texoma Innovation Engine. The NSF funded initiative is designed to drive logistics innovation. We are thrilled to announce that Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) has been selected as the winner of the CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute, selected by U.S. Department of Commerce, CHIPS for America and CHIPS Research and Development (R&D) Office, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The SMART USA (Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Research with Twins USA) Institute will have combined funding totaling $1 billion and is expected to launch in 2025. ? “We are honored by CHIPS for America's recognition of the impact that the SMART USA Institute will have in driving semiconductor innovation. Our selection as the CHIPS Manufacturing USA institute reaffirms our importance to a vibrant ecosystem," said Dr. Todd Younkin, Executive Director of SMART USA. "At its core, the SMART USA Manufacturing Institute is about bringing people together to harness their collective strengths and expertise. Through a united effort we will deliver towards the ambitious goals we put forward.” SMART USA will focus on efforts to develop, validate, and use digital twins to improve domestic semiconductor ?? design ?? manufacturing ?? advanced packaging ?? assembly ?? test processes With SMART USA’s commitment to advancing digital twin technology, we have a unique opportunity to revolutionize job creation and skill-building. Nov. 19 2024. U.S. Department of Commerce and the Semiconductor Research Corporation Manufacturing Consortium Corporation (SRC) are entering negotiations for the Department to provide SRC $285 million to establish the first-of-its-kind CHIPS Manufacturing USA institute SMART USA (Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Research with Twins USA) that will focus on efforts to develop, validate, and use #digitaltwins to improve domestic semiconductor design, manufacturing, advanced packaging, assembly, and test processes. Texoma Semiconductor Tech Hub (TSTH) led by Southern Methodist University is a member of the SMART USA. Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the first?Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $4.1M has been extended to Texoma Semiconductor Tech Hub member Intelligent Epitaxy Technology, Inc. (#IntelliEPI) for their new 30,000-square-foot?wafer production facility in Allen, Texas, which is expected to create more than $41 million in capital investment and nearly triple the company’s annual wafer production. IntelliEPI manufactures and sells epitaxy-based compound wafers that are used in telecommunications, photonics, radio frequency and microwave technologies, and other high-performance applications. By investing in this facility, we’re not just building walls; we’re opening doors to a more self-reliant and prosperous America. Together, we’re creating pathways to a stronger economy and a more secure nation.

Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Economic Development Administration announced more than 12,000 American workers have been trained and placed into jobs through the?Good Jobs Challenge. The program, initially funded by the Biden-Harris Administration’s American Rescue Plan, is investing a historic $500 million into high-quality, locally-led workforce training programs across the country. The Good Jobs Challenge is the first large-scale worker training program in the history of the Department of Commerce. https://lnkd.in/gtxfuYVm
