Yesterday afternoon the House Agriculture & Livestock Committee heard HB 1113 which pertains to the production and regulation of hemp. This bill would provide the ability for more research, protect farmers fiscally in terms of transport manifests and transplant issues, and provide the agency with the ability to updated rules based off of federal guidelines. Thank you Chairman Cain for introducing this legislation for the second session in a row and working with us to addresses our needs as an industry. URGENT: Texas Legislature Considers Sweeping Hemp Product Ban – TAKE ACTION NOW! Last night, the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs held a marathon hearing on Senate Bill 3, lasting more than 10 hours, with over 8 hours of testimony from 170 people, and the overwhelming majority of whom opposed the bill. SB3 would ban 90-95% of hemp products, devastating jobs and pushing consumers toward unregulated markets. Notably, testimony from scientists and farmers highlighted that the THC limits proposed in SB 3 are impossible to meet, further proving that this bill is unworkable. Prohibition has never worked.
