We aim to build a future of clean, flowing water for all Texans
关于我们
Texas Water Trade is a nonprofit organization founded in 2019 to harness the power of markets and technological innovation to build a future of clean, flowing water for all Texans. Our vision is durable, long-lasting water supplies in Texas that ensure future economic growth, ecological resilience and abundant drinking water for present and future generations, no matter their income or zip code. Texas values, Texas landscape Working across the diverse cultures and landscapes of Texas, we seek to leverage Texans’ commitment to private property rights and market forces to achieve sustainable, abundant water for people and nature. Global relevance As the 10th largest economy in the world, Texas has all the human and capital resources it needs to achieve its full potential, unimpeded by water insecurity. We believe that by investing in innovative solutions to its own water challenges, Texas can become an exporter of these solutions to the rest of the world. Science We rely on science to inform our decisions and work to advance scientific understanding of how we can optimize outcomes for natural resources and human economies. Equity We view access to clean water as a fundamental benchmark of economic vitality and will work to advance market and technological innovation in ways that can benefit all Texans, no matter their income or zip code. Mutual gains Durable solutions to water insecurity must advance the interests of multiple stakeholders. We will facilitate the co-creation of lasting investments among diverse economic stakeholders to demonstrate that clean, flowing water is achievable for all Texans.

The state of Texas is projecting a 73% population increase over the next 50 years! When thinking about all that water usage, how do we ensure water security for a growing state? PAE’s Associate Principal Justin Stenkamp was a technical advisor for the Texas Net Zero Water Toolkit, which aims to guide property developers, owners, and other professionals in smart water design. By using Net Zero Water principles that offer developments ways to capture, store, and treat water onsite, buildings can shift the traditional water cycle and provide for their own water, independence, and resiliency. Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has recently opened up about the water crisis in Texas. In his recent op-ed, Miller highlights the water issues facing Texas, particularly farmers, stating “we lose about a farm a week.” He also promotes solutions such as capturing storm water, reusing treated water, and improving irrigation efficiency in order to “maximize every drop." Miller adds that Texans should be talking more about these problems, and lawmakers and other leaders need to act.
