TxSSC researchers recently published an article, “An Examination of Non-Law Enforcement Security Personnel in Texas K-12 Public School Districts” in the Journal of School Violence. The Texas School Safety Center welcomes applicants for the position of Senior Safety Specialist – School Safety Readiness who have extensive experience with emergency operations planning within an organization that serves at the local, state, or federal level. Conduct the statewide review, verification, and follow-up of multi-hazard emergency operations plans for K-12 districts, charter school districts, and community colleges in Texas to ensure compliance with state school safety legislation related to emergency operations planning. Last month, TxSSC staff, Julia Hopkins, Rachel Hall, MS, Margaret Ashley Vaughn, Stephen Scogin, Marcie Murfield, and Alison Jarzombek-Torralva, attended the American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting in San Francisco to share the results of a research study on motivation to implement school behavioral threat assessment programs in Texas. Team members also participated in a panel discussion alongside members of TXST School of Criminal Justice and Criminology about the impact of guardian legislation in Texas. #schoolsafety #research
