This weekend, we had the privilege of honoring two incredible women, Mary Wilson and Ofelia Zapata, for their decades of dedication to TLSC's mission as client board members. Mary has devoted nearly 50 years to advocating for underserved Texans, while Ofelia has contributed 22 years of commitment to ensuring equal access to justice. Their contributions are more than just years of service—they are decades of wisdom, compassion, and belief in the power of justice for all. ? Thank you, Mary and Ofelia, for everything. ? We're proud to see Shelli Egger, TLSC Managing Attorney of Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault, speaking out on the complexities of domestic violence in the recent case of Brenna Swindell. Shelli's insight shows us of the courage it takes for survivors like Brenna to protect themselves in the most dangerous situations. "Domestic violence is all about power and control," Shelli shared. "When that control starts to slip, the situation can escalate quickly." We are committed to supporting survivors with compassion, safety planning, and legal options to help them regain control of their lives.
