We’re proud to share that our executive director, Ankit Sanghavi, MPH, BDS, was a presenter at the 2025 ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition. His session, Centering Communities and Their Agency: Grassroots Path to Social Change, highlighted the power of grassroots advocacy in driving social change. Ankit joined a panel of advocacy leaders who shared their experiences and insights on mobilizing communities for change, navigating local and global challenges, and offering strategies for student leaders to lead impactful advocacy efforts. We're inspired by the conversations and solutions generated during this session!
Truly a privilege facilitating the 2025 ADEA SLSC program and hearing much-needed messages of progress, hope, and resilience from friends and accomplished national leaders in academia, policy, and advocacy, Fotinos Panagakos , Faizan Alawi, Ankit Sanghavi , Candace Hsu Owen, and Scott Darius of Florida Voices for Health. Huge thanks to my friend Shelvia English, Ph.D. and the amazing team at ADEA, and all the energized and engaged student leaders in attendance from across the country. We are so proud of Cody Price, MPH for presenting at the 2025 AIDPH Colloquium today! Cody provided insights on the power of community-engaged research to build trust and strengthen relationships. He shared how innovative methods like PhotoVoice and Pláticas, used in the 2024 Community Voices project with St. David's Foundation are helping to engage youth and move beyond traditional focus groups. Cody’s work is a great example of how research can drive meaningful connections and create lasting impact. You can read the full Community Voices Project here: https://lnkd.in/gQAfuizK
After engaging in our “Idea Incubator,” Colloquium attendees were treated to a working panel session developed by AIDPH’s Oral Health Community Advisory Board and Oral Health Community Engagement Task Force. AIDPH's Keri Eason, Ph.D. participated while Annaliese C. moderated. This session provided attendees with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to build actionable pathways toward an oral health system that reflects values of inclusion, empowerment, and justice. They discussed how community members need a say in decision making and are experts on their own lives, and how community-engaged research builds trust. Today was a day to remember. We’re thrilled to see you tomorrow! Cody Price, MPH / Janice Hawkins, PhD, RN, CNS, FAAN #AIDPH2025 #AIDPHcolloquium #DentalCareAsAHumanRight #OralHealthJustice
