Today is America Recycles Day, and we’re excited to announce a game-changer for construction and demolition (C&D) recycling in Central Texas! Texas Disposal Systems has just completed the region’s first fully integrated C&D recycling facility in Creedmoor, TX. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to handle concrete, aggregates, untreated wood, cardboard, plastics, and metals—helping keep these materials out of landfills and turning them into resources that can be reused. Why is this important? With Central Texas booming and more construction projects on the rise, sustainable waste practices are more critical than ever. This facility is designed to process 25 to 50 tons per hour, significantly exceeding Austin’s C&D recycling ordinance requirements by diverting 60%-70% of materials from landfills! But it doesn’t stop there. By utilizing advanced automation technology and vertically integrated processes, TDS is not only making construction more sustainable but also cutting down on carbon emissions related to material transportation—creating a smarter, more efficient recycling ecosystem. Did you know? When you recycle aluminum cans, they’re sent to our facility where they are processed and pressed into large bales. Once the bale is complete, it awaits to be shipped to a new facility to be turned into new goods for people to use. Can you guess how many cans are in a single bale? The past week marks an important step for recovery efforts as we’ve deployed a fleet across the Eastern United States, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. We’ve sent generators, laundry, shower and restroom trailers to assist in disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Helene and waiting for the arrival of Hurricane Milton. We have a dedicated team on-site to ensure everything runs smoothly. TDS is uniquely qualified for these efforts, and our expert staff, along with our essential emergency management equipment, plays a crucial role in aiding the recovery of hurricane-affected areas.

Exciting news from TDS! This past Friday, we partnered with Austin FC for a Certification Reveal at Q2 Stadium to announce a groundbreaking achievement: Q2 Stadium is now the world’s first soccer-specific stadium to earn TRUE Gold Certification for Zero Waste! This prestigious certification recognizes facilities that divert at least 90% of their waste from landfills, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability. A huge thank you to Austin FC and Okapi Environmental Services for their support in making this possible.
