Texas, we need your help! DPS is reminding all drivers to move over or slow down; it's the law. That means when you see police, fire, EMS, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) vehicles and tow trucks stopped on the side of the road with emergency lights activated, you need to move over a lane or slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit. Moving over or slowing down helps ensure the safety of those working on the side of the road, and it could mean the difference between life and death. Thank you for doing your part to make Texas roadways safer for everyone. #MoveOverSlowDown

You may be wondering, are commercial vehicles impacted by the changes coming to the state’s Vehicle Safety Inspection Program? Here’s what you need to know: All commercial vehicles in all counties will still be required to obtain a passing vehicle safety inspection. Because they will be required to pay for that safety inspection, commercial vehicles will be exempt from the inspection program replacement fee. Read more about the changes at https://bit.ly/3XwDYZG.

Educating young people about the lethal dangers of fentanyl is critical to saving lives. Earlier today, Sgt. Casarez visited with students in DPS' South Texas Region to spread the word about this deadly drug. From elementary to high school, these students learned about the risks of counterfeit drugs and fentanyl — and were reminded that just one pill can kill. Through the Texas Highway Patrol’s Safety Education Service, DPS offers specialized programing to schools, churches, community groups and other organizations — just like the one Sgt. Casarez delivered today. If you’re interested in having our team make a presentation to your school or organization, please visit https://lnkd.in/g2Ad_TxA to connect with a representative in your area. Special thanks to Ida Diaz Jr. High, Hidalgo High School and Wilber E. Lucas Elementary for having us out today. #OnePillKills #FentanylPoisoningAwarenessMonth ?? Courtesy of DPS' South Texas Region
