As water professionals, we’re constantly working toward a more sustainable future for Texas. Today is Earth Hour, which gives us a moment to pause, reflect, and act—together. From 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., Texas AWWA encourages you to turn off your lights and think about the role water plays in sustaining life and our environment. Reducing energy demand helps lessen the burden on water systems, especially in drought-prone areas like many regions of Texas. Our work in water starts with conservation, and conservation starts with all of us. This hour of darkness is a chance to shed light on solutions that preserve Texas water for generations to come. Happy World Water Day! This year, we're putting the power of change directly in your hands with a simple but impactful challenge. Here's how you can participate: Choose one way to save water in your household for an entire week: 1. If you usually take long showers, cut your time by two minutes. 2. If you water your lawn daily, switch to every other day or invest in water-efficient irrigation. 3. Replace one water-heavy meal with a water-wise recipe this week. Note your actions and reflections throughout the week. Share your journey with loved ones to encourage wider participation. Let's unite in small, meaningful actions for significant water conservation!
