TASN provides resources that enhance and promote non-profit child nutrition programs for the benefit of our school children. For more than 30 years, TASN has undertaken a certification program to help school nutrition professionals continue their education and reach career goals. College courses, workshops sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture, and TASN training seminars can be used toward certification. These programs not only improve the value of service to school children, but they enhance members' earning potential and career development. Texas Association for School Nutrition awards a number of scholarships annually to deserving members. These scholarships help pay for a variety of educational opportunities ranging from college courses to training towards certification. One of the greatest benefits of membership in TASN is the abundance of opportunities to share ideas and experiences with other professionals in both structured and informal settings. The wealth of information and assistance available to all members helps raise the level of performance and service to children across the state. Becoming a member of TASN can bring great rewards! ?? Announcing the Texas Fruit & Vegetable Day Contest! ?? The first Friday in April is designated Texas Fruit and Vegetable Day by the Texas Legislature. TASN supports TDA in the effort to encourage students to consume more fruits and vegetables, and to help celebrate the second annual Texas Fruit and Vegetable Day, we're offering a contest! We're looking for the district with the most creative celebration featuring the highest impact on student engagement while showcasing Texas Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Day on April 4. This contest is open to all Texas school districts, so please share with your friends and colleagues! The grand prize will be an all-expenses-paid trip for two child nutrition staff members to the Rio Grande Valley, sponsored by Cool Tropics. The trip will provide tours of citrus farms and packing facilities, and opportunities to meet with local growers and industry experts. All accommodations and meals will be included in the prize. ??
