  • We were honored to host Alfredo L. Gutierrez, Founder & CEO of SparrowHawk, as a guest speaker for our Master of Real Estate program! In 2010, Alfredo founded SparrowHawk, an industrial real estate investment firm focused on strategic acquisitions, property development, and joint ventures. Under his leadership, SparrowHawk has managed nearly $1 billion in assets, including an award-winning renovation project leased to Coca-Cola Bottling Company. His expertise in unlocking value through acquisitions and property upgrades has made him a respected figure in the industry. But beyond his professional success, Alfredo shared something even more powerful: his personal journey of overcoming dyslexia. His story of resilience, determination, and unwavering passion for real estate was truly inspiring to our students. He reminded us that challenges don’t define us—our response to them does. Alfredo is also deeply committed to education and mentorship. As an Advisory Board member for the Texas A&M Mays Business School Master of Real Estate program, he has played a crucial role in shaping the next generation of real estate leaders. He also established the Endowment of Real Estate Excellence and the SIOR-SparrowHawk Foundation Scholarship, which provides financial support to students, particularly women pursuing careers in real estate. Following his talk, a select group of students had the incredible opportunity to join Alfredo for an exclusive lunch, where they engaged in meaningful discussions about career paths, market trends, and the future of industrial real estate. This unique experience allowed students to gain valuable insights and advice from one of the industry’s most accomplished leaders. His visit was a masterclass in real estate, leadership, and perseverance. Thank you, Alfredo, for sharing your insights, experience, and passion for both the industry and education with us!?

  • Explore this insightful study from our commercial real estate and capital investment experts with Texas A&M University. It provides valuable strategies for organizations seeking to innovate and optimize workplace environments to attract and retain top talent. Texas A&M continues to shape the spaces where people live, work, and play!

If you build it (with the right features and amenities) they will come... A study from Mays assistant professor Bucky Banks and executive professor Stephen A. Ramseur, along with Texas Real Estate Research Center ’s Harold D. Hunt, reveals how modern university buildings, like the new Wayne Roberts ’85 Building, can provide inspiration for businesses when planning capital expenditures to help attract talent. Some of those findings include: ? Mandates and traditional amenities have not lured employees back to offices following COVID. ? Aligning office investments with modern university facilities could boost attendance and office values by creating innovative, collaborative environments. ? Successful investments in modern learning environments suggest similar strategies could enhance office spaces for better productivity. The researchers say the Wayne Robert ’85 Building is a perfect example of what it takes to embody these factors. This four-story facility houses a plethora of flexible spaces to provide students with engaging instructional experiences and learning environments. Find out how this exposure to such an advanced learning environment produces students who have much higher expectations for their workplace facilities in the private sector: bit.ly/40P1CCu
