Through a planned gift with the Texas A&M Foundation, Tom and Donna Bigbee have ensured that the Texas A&M Horse Judging Team will be supported for generations to come. The Bigbees graciously donated their College Station property to the Foundation through a living trust. After their lifetime, the Foundation real estate team will sell the Bigbee’s property, and 100% of the proceeds will be directed to the Dr. Gary D. Potter Horse Judging Endowment. Tom and Donna are longtime supporters of the Texas A&M Horse Judging Team, and this generous and impactful gift will play a crucial role in shaping the team's educational and competitive experiences. The Department of Animal Science and the horse judging team are forever grateful for the Bigbee’s support. With this gift, Tom and Donna’s legacy will live on through the horse judging team as it develops future leaders and professionals in the equine and agricultural industries. #TAMUansc

We are delighted to congratulate Jim Williams '76 on his induction into the 2024 Saddle and Sirloin Club Portrait Gallery! This award recognizes the innovators, pioneers, and visionary leaders of the livestock industry, and Jim is certainly most deserving of this prestigious honor. We are grateful for Jim's dedication to the industry, particularly his mentorship of 4-H and FFA youth. We also thank him for his continued support of our department. It is always great to see our former students recognized and celebrated for their devotion, passion, and character. Whoop! ??

Last night, I had the honor of attending Jim Williams' induction into the Saddle and Sirloin Club Portrait Gallery in Louisville, Kentucky. Jim’s incredible work with V-8 Ranch, his dedication to the Brahman and Shorthorn breeds and his mentorship of 4-H and FFA youth make him so deserving of this recognition. It was great to celebrate alongside so many supporters, including folks from Wharton County: Corrie Bowen, County Extension Agent, Agriculture and Natural Resources and County Coordinator; Richard Zahn, Wharton County Commissioner, Precinct 1; Tim Barker, Mayor of Wharton; Laura Reyna, County Extension Agent, 4-H and Youth Development; and Richard and Sarah Lockley of Wharton Feed & Supply. What a special evening honoring Jim and his family!

Proud to share that our first Beef Sustainability Summit was a success! I was blown away by the engagement between our audience and presenters. Really important dialogue about the balance we need to strike in the industry between what is needed at the environmental level and what is realistic for our beef producers. I look forward to continuing this effort in the future.
