The Texas A&M Board of Regents has voted to establish the INSPIRE Alliance, a nonprofit expanding DOD-funded research across engineering and beyond. This initiative will drive innovation, create jobs, and strengthen Texas’ role in national security advancements. The INSPIRE Alliance will include a wide array of research topics, such as autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, space innovations, data and materials sciences. Dr. Arum Han and his lab developed NOVAsort (Next-generation Opto-Volume-based Accurate droplet sorter), a system that makes droplet microfluidics faster, lower cost, and more accurate. This new technology allows high throughput screening of molecules and cells at significantly reduced error rates. The team’s findings, which were published in Nature Communications, are among the first to significantly improve accuracy without compromising the speed of assays.
