Happy Veterans Day!
My grandfather, Charles H. Riley, served in the Army in WWII and was in 7 of the 11 major campaigns. He and a buddy once jumped into a German Machine Gun Nest disarmed the two German soldiers who immediately surrendered and the 40 American soldiers penned down were able to advance. He was awarded a Bonze Star for bravery. Paw Paw also was at Dachau Prison Camp. He said it was so horrible he couldn't go inside the front gate. What he saw from there he could not ever get out of his mind. He personally took a few photographs and showed them to all his children when they reached 15 years old and asked us all to do the same with our children so the world would not forget the Holocaust. He said some day in the future there will be those who say it never happened. It did and he was there. God bless and keep our soldiers safe! Happy Veterans Day to all who endured so we didn’t!
