Robert Zschuppe found his perfect career in a vast, frozen landscape that can inspire both awe and fear. He is Arctic regional manager and senior winter roads and ice engineer at Tetra Tech. Robert’s work includes designing winter roads, ice bridges, and other vital infrastructure that connects communities and supports economies in some of the world’s most challenging environments. He has been the senior engineer on many of the world’s longest heavy-haul winter roads. “Winter roads have captured the public’s imagination for good reason,” Robert shares. “They often traverse stunningly beautiful environments that can inspire a sense of awe. However, the dangers often highlighted in media can overshadow reality: There are effective ways to mitigate hazards and operate these roads safely.” Hear more from Robert about his work on critical infrastructure in remote northern communities in our interview: https://hubs.la/Q03bcYyH0. #LifeAtTetraTech #WinterRoads #IceEngineering #LeadingWithScience #TtTransportation

How can communities ensure resilient water supplies in the face of critical challenges like sea level rise and aquifer depletion? Virginia’s Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) offers an innovative solution. HRSD is recharging the Potomac Aquifer with SWIFT Water (TM), treated to meet drinking water quality standards. A key part of the SWIFT Program is the Nansemond Treatment Plant Advanced Nutrient Reduction Improvements project, led by Garney Construction (contractor) and Tetra Tech (lead engineering designer). Tetra Tech’s innovative engineering design solutions meet current project requirements and anticipate future regulatory requirements. By integrating the Partial Denitrification-Anammox (PdNA) process, an advanced nitrogen removal technique developed by HRSD research, the project achieves: ? Substantial capital and operational cost savings ? Enhanced energy efficiency ? Increased plant capacity #LeadingWithScience Tetra Tech Water #Garney #Water #SWIFT
