Just 67 days away from the World Marathon Challenge. T. Clark Gamblin, MD, MS, MBA, an internationally known cancer surgeon and testicular cancer survivor is preparing to run the World Marathon Challenge? to benefit the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation and the fight against this disease. The World Marathon Challenge? is “a logistical and physical challenge to run seven marathons on seven continents in seven consecutive days.” Dr. Gamblin’s feat will kick off on January 31, 2025, in Antarctica followed by stops in Cape Town, South Africa; Perth, Australia; Dubai, UAE; Madrid, Spain; and Fortaleza, Brazil before culminating on February 6, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Most men are unaware that testicular cancer is the leading cause of cancer in men 15-44, but can strike infancy to elderly. Testicular cancer is over 95% curable when detected early. Testicular self-exams should begin at puberty and performed monthly just as women are taught for detecting breast cancer. Notice a lump, see a doctor. Awareness and early detection are key!
