Last week, Tesseract (MSgt Derrick Brooke, Mr. Andrew Renken, and MSgt Heikell Perez), traveled to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey to observe the C-17 Home Station Check (HSC) process. This visit was part of the ongoing Slingshot initiative -- Tesseract’s organic Theory of Constraints (ToC) project aimed at streamlining Air Force operations. The team kicked off the visit by attending the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (AMXS) production meeting and briefing the leadership team. Throughout the week, they engaged in discussions with key stakeholders from the Maintenance Group and Logistics Readiness Squadron to identify ways to optimize resource allocation and increase throughput. The team also observed the HSC process in the hangar, capturing pain points, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement directly from the Airmen involved. ??? Enhancing Field Inspections with A Digital Inspection Tool???? Tesseract has partnered with government and industry leaders to transform the inspection process. Recently, we participated in testing JI-JOE, a digital inspection app, at Little Rock Air Force Base, hosted by the 19th Logistics Readiness Squadron. JI-JOE is a Joint Inspection app supported by RAWHIDE, designed to help inspectors move away from paper-based systems to a faster, more efficient, and field-optimized digital solution. Alongside other agencies, including the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, USINDOPACOM J4, and Air Mobility Command, as well as 452nd Aerial Port Squadron and 621st Mobility Support Operations Squadron, we saw firsthand the app's capabilities in: ?? Completing inspections ??Documenting hazardous materials ??Accessing key technical data, even in challenging, low-connectivity environments The team behind these digital solutions is committed to enhancing the Airmen’s field experience, with JI-JOE playing a key role in shaping the Aerial Port of The Future. The Challenge ???The current VDATS system is extensive, standalone, and non-portable, limiting its deployment to depot locations and increasing aircraft downtime. ???Single points of failure at depot facilities. ???Time-consuming back-and-forth shipment of components for diagnostics and repair. ???Increased costs due to inefficiencies in repair processes. ???The Solution: The Portable VDATS project delivers a benchtop version of the current system, maintaining its powerful diagnostic and repair capabilities in a smaller, deployable form factor. ???Boosts Aircraft Readiness:?Enables in-theater depot-level repairs, reducing mission-impairment times. ???Saves Time:?Shaves up to 4 weeks off aircraft downtime by eliminating the need to ship components back to CONUS for repair. ??
