After an exciting trip to Denmark, we come back home with great news! Our game Terrible Workers emerged as the 1st place winner of the 12th International Educational Game Awards Competition in the non-digital games category! Judging took place at the Aarhus University, Denmark as part of the European Conference on Games-Based Learning (ECGBL) ?? In our presentation, we highlighted the often-overlooked importance of people skills. Instead of focusing on just one skill like communication, collaboration, etc., our game's unique value proposition is making students believe in the value of people skills and boosting their motivation to learn and practice them. None of this would have been possible without our collaboration with James Hausman III and Matthew Callison, PhD Director of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, who shared ?? "Starting with curiosity, creativity, and brilliance, our partnership with CMU's MHCI Capstone team empowered South Fayette Township School District to examine a complex issue through a unique lens, leveraging expertise rarely available to public schools. This collaboration resulted in an innovative, human-centered solution that enables students to practice essential soft skills in a fun and unconventional way, preparing them for success in today's rapidly evolving world.” We are beyond grateful for this opportunity to have presented on a global platform. A huge thank you to CMU HCII's Master of Human-Computer Interaction Program, which facilitated a great partnership with the South Fayette Township School District and supported us in presenting at Academic Conferences International's ECGBL! ?? A special shoutout to our team Simran Chawla, Manvi Gupta, Jenny Liu, Lawrence Zheng and our mentors Megan Guidi, Auldyn Matthews, Jessica Vogt, PMP?, Skip Shelly. #GameDesign #InterpersonalSkills #Innovation #ECGBL2024 #MHCI #SoftSkills #Education
