A Letter from Global Leadership Adventures Executive Director Lately, it feels like the world is pulling us apart. Headlines tell us to stay put, to turn inward, and to shut out what’s beyond our borders. But history has shown us something different: real progress happens when people step forward with an open heart and mind, not back. For 20 years, Global Leadership Adventures has believed in something bigger: that travel changes people, that service learning builds bridges, and that global citizenship is an essential mindset for the future. Now, more than ever, we need young leaders who step forward into the world, and seek to build bridges of understanding and common cause. It’s long been an American tradition to venture beyond our borders — not just to explore, but to serve. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy launched the Peace Corps, igniting a movement of cultural exchange, service, and global understanding. That spark became a torch, carried forward by every volunteer who steps into the world with an open heart and a willingness to make a difference. Co-founded by a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and a Time 100 Impact Award recipient, we built GLA on the belief that young people are the ones to carry that torch forward. Their voices and actions matter, and since our beginning two decades ago, we’ve created opportunities for them to step up, engage meaningfully, learn from others, and become the global changemakers our world needs. That belief hasn’t changed. At a time when people may feel compelled to turn inward, we remain committed to something else: lighting the way forward. Our mission of service learning has always been about bringing people together, fostering global understanding, and empowering the next generation of leaders to shape a future of shared responsibility and hope. We’re not backing down from that now. The torch is still shining bright. Will you take it up next? Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about how we’re standing up for this mission at a time when the world needs it most — including new ways to help you join us. For those who still believe in the power of travel, service, and connection: we see you. And we hope to see you out there. Sincerely, Jessica Rose Miller Executive Director Global Leadership Adventures www.experienceGLA.com PS: Our partners over at the National Peace Corps Association recently launched a Stand Up for Service campaign. We wholeheartedly support their efforts in continuing to make the Peace Corps a top priority in our country and around the world. https://lnkd.in/gZbJehkN
