As recipients of funding from the DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) we are proud to be among the 14 groundbreaking projects accelerating clean energy manufacturing across coal communities in the U.S. Our partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and the community of Magna, UT is a critical step forward in decarbonizing the cement and concrete industries. This project is a game changer—not only for our industry but for communities that have powered the nation for generations. ?? Canary Media Inc. recently covered Terra CO2's success in receiving a DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) grant, and it’s a great story about our mission to reduce the carbon footprint of cement and concrete as well as create jobs and work on well deserved community focused projects in Magna, UT. Our CEO, Bill Yearsley, shared some key insights in the article: “Most of what we’re focused on is reducing the carbon footprint of cement and concrete. But this is a unique situation at the Kennecott mine, because it’s also an opportunity to repurpose some mine tailings … and provide some real environmental benefits.” “The stars aligned, which doesn’t always happen for early-stage companies. The grant is critical because it’ll help us deploy faster on a larger scale, and it’ll improve the economics,” though Terra CO2’s products are already cost-competitive before green incentives.” “If we can have climate solutions that are cost-competitive for these bigger-ticket items like concrete, that’s critical.” This grant will accelerate our efforts to build more sustainable infrastructure while making an impact on reducing emissions.
