If you dont like to burp your jars, but also dont want your herb to get in contact with plastic (Limonene eats right through that - see image) then try this… Cut a piece out of a Grove Bag and use it as a mason jar lid. Thats it. That way you get the same gas exchange without your herb getting in contact with plastic. Grove Bags should consider making a 5 gallon bucket lid with their TerpLock Technology! Did you know that male cannabis flowers (anthers) also have trichomes? I didn’t either—until I read an article from Alejandro Flores Casla (Macrohuana). I knew male cannabis plants produce trichomes on their stems and leaves, but I wasn’t aware that trichomes also develop on the anthers. Interestingly, the article mentions that the trichomes on the anthers don’t resemble any of the usual trichome types. I’m curious why the plant would produce trichomes so close to its pollen grains—it seems counterproductive to me. Does anyone have any additional information on anther trichomes? Origin of the word Terpene The term "terpene" originated in 1866, introduced by German chemist August Kekulé. It was created to describe hydrocarbons with the formula C10H16, such as camphene, which were previously known under various names including "camphene" itself. Kekulé's introduction of "terpene" aimed to clarify the naming confusion among hydrocarbons with the same molecular composition. The word "terpene" is derived from "terpentine," an old variant of the word "turpentine." Fun Fact: Kekulé spoke of the creation of the theory and said that he had discovered the ring shape of the benzene molecule after having a day-dream of a snake seizing its own tail. Im sure Russ Hudson could fill a whole book with fun facts like this. In fact he already did ??...Check it out. Its a little pricey but worth every penny considering the immense amount of work and research that went into it.

Cannabis and Tobacco I was impressed to see that over 80% of people chose only cannabis as their preferred consumption method. I believe this is largely due many of my followers being located in the USA, where tobacco use is less socially accepted compared to countries in Europe. For example, in France and Bulgaria, up to 30% of the adult population consumes tobacco. While tobacco has proven negative impacts not only on the people consuming it but also on their surroundings, I personally don’t have anything against it. However, I strongly criticize the extent to which cigarette tobacco is processed and the limited choices consumers are left with. This made me often consider growing tobacco myself so my friends who use it could have a clean, unadulterated product. Given the limited options available, I always urge my friends who mix tobacco with cannabis to try using CBD instead. Combining typical high-THC coffeeshop strains with quality CBD flower can not only save money (you can find high quality CBD flower for 2-3 Euros per gram) and reduce tobacco intake but also improve the overall experience. For example, a strain with 25% THC and only 0.2% CBD can sometimes induce unwanted effects like anxiety or paranoia, which can be avoided by adding CBD to the mix. I used to consume tobacco myself, but once I learned that it reduces life expectancy by an average of 9 to 13 years, the choice to quit became an easy one. I hope this encourages you to consider the potential of CBD, not only in enhancing your experience by balancing out high-THC flower, but also in helping to reduce or even quit tobacco consumption. THE NOVEL TERPENE: HASHISHENE (10th Anniversary) It has been 10 years since researchers discovered the photo-oxidation products formed from B-Myrcene, leading to the identification of the monoterpene 1-vinyl-5,5-dimethyl[2.1.1]bicyclohexane, now known as hashishene (see Figure below). The study also showed that hashish samples presented a greater diversity in oxygenated terpenes than cannabis flower, particularly in the monoterpene family, where no less than 50 constituents were identified. Most of these oxygenated derivatives corresponded to secondary photo-oxidation products of the initial terpenes. In the presence of light and singlet oxygen atoms, terpenes undergo photo-oxidation, forming allylic hydroperoxides. Since hydroperoxides are generally unstable over time, they generate corresponding alcohols through the reductive loss of an oxygen atom. Eventually, these alcohols may be further oxidized into aldehydes or ketones. These finding highlight the complex chemistry behind hashish and underscores the importance of understanding these processes that produce these novel degradation products.
