Our leap into the year's fourth quarter started with the City of Chino’s recent selection of Theresa Doyle as its Director of Human Resources/Risk Management. Theresa is an experienced HR professional, with the last 14 years of her experience focused on human resources and risk management in local government and education. Most recently, Theresa served as the City of Upland’s Deputy Director of Human Resources/Risk Management. Her background includes experience with the County of San Bernardino and more than 20 years with the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Theresa holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University. We live in an uncertain world. If we let it, it can become overwhelming. I have personally found that creating and maintaining an optimistic mindset can be a game changer. No matter what the circumstances are or what's going on around me. It may take some digging and hard work, but I would argue that we can always find things to be hopeful about. It does, however, require intention and desire – you have to want to be in an optimistic state and reject addictive temptations to be negative. Here are 3 tips I find helpful: 1?? Make a daily gratitude list as you start and end each day. It takes just a minute and is a quick way to get perspective and put your mind in a healthy place. 2?? Choose close friends wisely. Disassociating with negative influences is imperative if we want to be more positive. Your “friends” list may need a cleansing. 3?? Imagine your own bright future. Focus on what you can influence and control and what you want your future to look like (and then get ready for some good doses of dopamine and serotonin). ? Being optimistic is a choice we can make every day and in our current environment, it's more important than ever to exercise agency over your mindset. ?? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??
