Today is #WorldRecyclingDay. Did you know that >95% of plastic pipes for building and infrastructure can be easily mechanically recycled at the end of their 50 up to 100+ years of useful life? In 2023 TEPPFA members used >235,000 tonnes of mechanically recycled plastics for the production of new up to 100+ year pipes in Europe. TEPPFA continuously opens-up product standards for plastic gravity pipes to support an increased use of #open_loop_recycled_content fit for purpose. Today at the ISH Frankfurt, the European leading trade show for #HVAC and water, Ilari Aho of GF Piping Systems /Uponor (Building Flow Solutions) and chair of TEPPFA Working Group #Drinking_Water_Quality debated with Bert Leemans, policy officer at the European Commission in charge of the DWD and Stefanie Facklam of Wilo Group. The implementation at Member State level is revealing enormous challenges especially related to testing capacity, #certification of new products in contact with drinking water and the #market_surveillance.
