Recently the students of the Industrial Training & Assessment Center (ITAC) at College of Engineering at Tennessee Technological University were honored to have a collaborative discussion with Jeff Ralph of AOSmith Water Heaters about Professionalism in Engineering. Mr. Ralph discussed "soft skills" such as communication, relationships and leadership and how they are relevant for engineers in all phases of their careers. We are grateful for this opportunity to complement the students' technical training with these skills that will serve them well at TN Tech and beyond. #WingsUp #ITAC

ITAC lead students Nikita T., Rajendra Tadakhe, Spencer Jones, and Patrick Swiecichowski attended a week-long Energy Bootcamp offered by the DOE Better Plants program at Oak Ridge National Labs. This event had tours and training on topics such as Steam Systems; Motors, Pumps, & Fans; Compressed Air Systems; Process Heating Systems; Building Envelope, HVAC, & Lighting, Process Cooling Systems, Renewable Energy, Water Savings, and more. Training the next generation of Energy Engineers is a core part of ITAC's mission and this event allowed the students to gain insights, network with experts, and expand their knowledge in the energy efficiency field.

Our lead students bring a good deal of knowledge and experience to their positions with ITAC.???Nikita T., who is working on her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, recently returned from her summer internship with Enfinity Engineering, where she contributed to HVAC design projects.?Throughout the 15 weeks, she worked closely with her peers to define project goals, calculating take-offs from AutoCAD files, calculation of loads by using Trace 700, and balancing air flow summary with references to ventilation codes and ASHRAE standards.?She also learned how to set up mechanical models using BIM 360 platforms and created drawings and deliverables using Revit and AutoCAD.?This hands-on experience not only expanded Nikita’s skills on the ITAC team, it enriched her professional journey and reaffirmed her commitment to driving impactful change in the field of HVAC design for buildings. We are proud to highlight the accomplishments of one of our IAC undergraduate students, Miguel Angel Fuentes Garcia, at his summer internship with Cummins Inc. Miguel is beginning his second year with the IAC and we look forward to his contributions to our upcoming energy assessments. Wings Up! #iac #TnTech
What a great way to wrap up my last summer as an undergraduate student! I am excited to share that I successfully completed my internship as a Value Package Introduction (VPI) Supplier Quality Engineer Intern with Cummins Inc. I had the honor to contribute to our Destination Zero strategy by supporting the introduction of game-changer products in our supply chain. This role allowed me to work closely with teams located in multiple countries around the world and support specific supplier quality strategies that are focused on meeting program deliverables. Special thank you to Ulisses M., Jenny Spindler, Varun Rahul, Dimitar Totkov, and Saulo Turribiates for your constant support and help throughout the summer. Last but not least, I would like to kindly thank my manager Faiz Warsi for the advices shared and the investment on my personal and career development. I am eager to see what the future holds! #quality #management #sixsigma #cummins
