A recent report from The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine highlights both the opportunities and challenges for STEM education in rural communities. The report calls for coordinated action to address gaps in broadband access, teacher preparation, and funding. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities for STEM education in rural areas, which is why we launched the Tennessee Rural STEM Collaborative. This year-long cohort empowers educators to deepen their knowledge, identify community assets that support STEM education, and develop targeted solutions to address local challenges. By expanding their influence and collaborating on solutions in areas like STEM curriculum, career awareness, and community partnerships, members are driving positive change in rural STEM education across the state.
