Strong partnerships help schools succeed! Our workshop allowed post secondary education leaders, Memphis-Shelby County Schools, Fayette County Public Schools (TN), Haywood County Schools-TN, Cognia and the Tennessee Department of Education to discuss how we can continue to support Tennessee's K-12 education framework.

State Board members and staff spent the morning touring Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Jackson, Stanton Extension Campus. We enjoyed hearing from facility leadership as they partner with Ford Motor Company to build a strong education-to workforce pipeline.

Vanderbilt University students studying education policy met with Chairman Eby, Vice-chair Cobbins, and staff to learn about the role of the State Board. It is always a pleasure to meet with the next generation of leaders!

A group of 21 Tennessee educators convened this week for the Educator Advisory Team (EAT) working sessions to analyze and discuss each current English Language Arts Standards. The EAT is a critical step in our English Language Arts Academic Standards Review process. Thank you to each educator that took time away from their classrooms to participate and offer your expertise!

State Board of Education members Jordan Mollenhour, Ina Maxwell, Krissi McInturff, and Bonza Auberson spent the day with the students and administration of Emerald Academy in Knoxville, TN. As a former Tennessee Charter School of the Year award recipient, we love hearing how charter schools such as Emerald Academy prepare students for success!

Today, Vice-Chair Darrell Cobbins and fellow panelists Dr. Steven Gentile and Troy Grant discussed how Tennessee SCORE's new Credential Impact Framework will help align Tennessee's post-secondary credentials to support high-growth career paths. We look forward to seeing how this new tool will benefit our K-12 education system and local economies!
