The president-elect's plans to impose 25% tariffs on all goods from Canada and Mexico are cause for alarm in #TN. Last year, our state imported over $20B in goods from these North American neighbors - $6.7B from Canada and $14B from Mexico. A 25% tariff adds over $5B to the cost of the same quantity of goods. If both trading partners retaliate, the $15B in #TN products we currently export each year to buyers in these markets would in turn be at risk - along with the jobs which produce them. https://lnkd.in/epGqEy2b

As business leaders, we know the impact?that?policy decisions have on growth and opportunity. The 21% corporate?rate established by 2017’s federal?tax reform has delivered real results: ???Higher household incomes ???Increased wages for workers ???Lower unemployment These outcomes underscore the role of a competitive tax environment in driving economic success—not just for businesses, but for workers and families nationwide. Maintaining a permanent corporate tax rate of no more than 21% is essential to sustaining these gains and ensuring the U.S. remains a leader in the global economy. Learn more about the impact and what’s at stake:?https://bit.ly/3OPSHlt

“Businesses have been operating under the assumption and making large investments in places like Western Tennessee on the assumption that this policy survives. So when you want to potentially shake this up, it causes total chaos and havoc on the private business side...This is not a red state, blue state economic development story. This is an all of America economic development and manufacturing resurgence story, and Tennessee is a great example of how this resurgence, this growth, is serving ‘red’ America.” https://lnkd.in/eDdPTmhT

#Mobility is key to #Nashville's continued economic success - especially for those on whom our businesses rely to do the cooking, cleaning, fixing, delivering, and building. Equity is important too - everyone has to contribute and all areas deserve to benefit. Voters evidently agreed. Congrats and thanks to Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Freddie O'Connell, Ralph Schulz, Benjamin Simpson, and so many others for your leadership.
Congrats to Mayor Freddie O'Connell and the city of Nashville on the transit referendum’s success! This milestone is a major step toward a more connected and accessible Nashville.
