Tempest Droneworx? is a solutions company - we provide actionable intelligence to help solve issues before they become problems. Tempest’s Harbinger platform delivers easily accessible intelligence data from hundreds, or even thousands of sources concurrently. The data collected from mobile (drones/robots) and static sensors can be controlled by the platform or manually piloted, organized to view in context, to give a “God’s Eye” view to the scale demanded by the user, including true “over-the-horizon” or “around-the-corner” views. The Tempest Harbinger platform is sensor agnostic and aggregates and presents data in real-time from a variety of sensor systems to meet the various needs of the end user. Tempest Droneworx has successfully completed a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), demonstrating the potential of single-pilot control of multiple drones for real-time 3D mapping. Utilizing its proprietary Harbinger Control software, Tempest Droneworx provided valuable insights and recommendations for standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technologies that will help shape the future of multi-drone operations in the United States. Tempest Droneworx managed to control up to six drones simultaneously using Harbinger Control, significantly reducing the time needed to map large areas. The project showcased real-time mapping capabilities and Harbinger’s unique contingency-based control system, which allows for dynamic airspace management rather than relying solely on preprogrammed missions. Project Highlights: Efficient Multi-Drone Mapping:?The team mapped 10 acres in just under 10 minutes using two drones, compared to over 25 minutes with a single drone, illustrating significant time savings and enhanced efficiency. Multi-Platform Compatibility:?Tempest Droneworx successfully operated a variety of drones, including Freefly Astro, Skydio X2D, a custom Ardupilot drone with Cube Orange and Herelink, and a Triad Drones Echo Mini, demonstrating Harbinger’s agnostic approach to drone and flight controller compatibility. Innovative Solutions to Challenges:?Overcoming significant challenges like signal interference and inconsistent MAVLink implementations, Tempest Droneworx employed advanced techniques such as clustering transceivers and environmental adjustments, highlighting the need for standardized control languages across manufacturers.
