Throughout Black History Month, we’re recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans to our century-plus of success. We honor the trailblazing efforts of Black pioneers in materials science, manufacturing and more. Stephanie Stroud is known around our South Carolina plant for her consistency and can-do spirit! Whenever anyone asks her for assistance, she replies with a smile and “How can I help?” Her collaborative spirit extends to the local community. Stephanie has been a United Way of Greenville County plant representative for more than 25 years, and she participates in our Murray Community Outreach program, donating her time to many area nonprofits. Stephanie has worked at Teknor Apex for 33 years, and she logged perfect attendance for two solid decades. As part of our sustainability journey, Teknor Apex is committed to fostering responsible stewardship for the environments that keep our planet and communities healthy. That’s why we partner with the Arbor Day Foundation to help fulfill their mission of inspiring people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. Whenever a person visits our booth at a trade show and scans their badge, we plant a tree in their honor to help support restoration efforts in forests of great need. Since the partnership began in 2022, we’ve helped plant more than 12,700 trees in Michigan, Florida and California. Thank you to everyone who has helped us restore forest ecosystems across the US! During Black History Month, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of African Americans who have shaped our history, culture and industry. We also reflect on the influence of Black pioneers have on manufacturing, materials, and beyond! Alvin Dowell will soon celebrate three decades as a Wastewater Operator with Teknor Apex. He was one of the first people to take on that role at our Brownsville, Tennessee plant when it opened 25 years ago. Through the years, he has worked closely with engineers and consultants, offering practical expertise and remarkable Teknor team spirit.
