We’ve detected a critical vulnerability in the popular WordPress plugin "Really Simple Security", and it’s time to don your capes and spring into action! ??♂???♀? ?? The Threat: This flaw allows cyber villains to escalate their privileges to administrator level, potentially taking over entire websites! It stems from a weak link in the two-factor authentication function within the plugin’s REST API actions. Even with two-factor authentication enabled, the door is left wide open for attackers to invade. ?? ? What Makes This Dangerous? Over 4 million sites use this plugin, making this a prime target for large-scale automated attacks. Remote attackers can gain access to any account on affected sites, including admin accounts. ?? Vulnerability Details: ID: CVE-2024-10924 CVSS Score: 9.8 (Critical!) Affected Versions: Both Free and Pro/Pro Multisite versions below 9.1.2 ??♂? Immediate Action Required: 1?? Scan your WordPress sites to identify if “Really Simple Security” is installed. 2?? Update Immediately: Ensure all instances are upgraded to version 9.1.2 or above.
