Today is Manufacturing Day, kicking off a month-long series when more than 1,600 manufacturers and schools across the country host job expos and presentations, open houses, shop floor tours and other creative events designed to reshape perceptions and inspire the next generation of the manufacturing workforce. This day is a critical step in introducing young people to the opportunities that exist in manufacturing. The National Association of Manufacturers - NAM estimates that the need for new employees in manufacturing could be around 3.8 million between 2024 and 2033. Around half of these open jobs (1.9 million) could remain unfulfilled. Each year, Teijin Automotive facilities host groups of students in support of Manufacturing Day. As we work to achieve our purpose of being the solution of choice for our people, our customers and our communities, Teijin Automotive teams around the world regularly engage in activities to support their local communities. Most recently, Eric Lahr, Roxanne Schlatter and roughly 30 other members of the Huntington, Indiana, team participated in the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA Battle of the Businesses event, with several employees placing in events and the team taking second overall. And over in Ohio, Jessica Van Epps and her Conneaut team volunteered in support of that community’s annual Commemorative D-Day event, which draws 50,000 people to this small city on the shores of Lake Erie and features numerous reenactments of D-Day battles.
