We support curators in contemporary visual art.

关于我们

Teiger Foundation supports contemporary visual art with a primary focus on curators. It honors the vision of founder David Teiger, who, in his lifetime, championed professionals who pursued their own paths in making exhibitions, leading organizations, conducting research, and pursuing other aspects of curatorial practice. In dialogue with artists and other art workers, curators are thinkers and leaders who play multiple and changing roles in their organizations and communities. Teiger Foundation’s goal is to support these activities and their continued reinvention. Acknowledging uncertainty, fear, and loss in a time of enormous change, Teiger Foundation is committed to experimentation and creativity in exhibitions and programs; widely varied, innovative curatorial research and partnerships; and new perspectives on community-building and positive structural change within the field of visual art.

”[Our late founder David Teiger] identified curators as essential, but under-recognised and under-resourced in innovating within an institutional context.” Executive Director Larissa Harris spoke with The Art Newspaper about the importance of supporting curators through our innovative grant initiatives. We’re thrilled to announce our 2024 Grantees! Awarded to 50 contemporary art curators at 33 institutions across the US, our 2024 grants fund curatorial research, single projects, hosting touring shows, and three years of programming at small organizations. With many of the awarded projects realized through partnerships, collaborations, and shared leadership models, the grants also platform historically underrepresented perspectives and strong new voices in the field. Through our new Climate Action for Curators program, a subset of the grantees will receive additional funding and coaching support to embed climate consciousness into their Teiger-funded project or organization. “Curators define the meaning and relevance of their visual art institutions in ways that are not always acknowledged, and their work is more complex and demanding than ever,” says our Executive Director, Larissa Harris. ”Along with funding to realize their projects, we hope these grants help others recognize the value of their work.” Congratulations to all of the 2024?#TeigerFoundation?grantees.
