On this week's Thanksgiving update, we have some short tips on how to destress during the break, and some words from a previous speaker, Shaheen Pasha, who is the founder of the Prison Journalism project.? Tips to destress during Thanksgiving Break:?? ->Meditate - Calm your mind and let go of work and school for a minute by meditating! We've found that finding some guided mediation videos on YouTube are a great and quick way to let go and relax a little.? ->Spend time with friends and family - Being social and allowing other people to help us destress is a great way to get your head off of the stresses of work and school. Take some time to hang out with those you care about ->Listen to TED Talks - Sometimes, we all need a little bit of something motivational to let go and allow our brains to really grow. Some of our TED Talks, like the one we're mentioning next, will help you do just that!? Shaheen Pasha and the Prison Journalism Project:? Incarcerated people have crucial insights that challenge stereotypes and humanize the experience of those in prison. Prison Journalism can spark social change and inform public policy in ways that the common person wouldn't think of. Additionally, the current US Prison system benefits from a lack of transparency, and bringing these people's stories into the limelight can help us hold people in power accountable for the treatment of prisoners.?You can watch Professor Pasha's talk on our website, in the Past Talks section, or on YouTube.

TEDxPSU is Penn State’s locally organized, student-run, yearly TEDx conference. Over the past ten years, we have provided students, faculty, staff, and State College community members with a memorable, interactive full-day TEDx conference full of enlightening talks on a wide breadth of topics. Our goal as an organization is two-fold. First, we aim to showcase the best research, ideas, and values that Penn State students, faculty, and alumni have to offer our community and beyond. Secondly, we bring in speakers from outside of our community to provide new perspectives on the world at large. Our reach extends to Penn State, State College, our Commonwealth campuses, and across the United States and the globe. We pledge to continuously provide novel “Ideas Worth Spreading” to all of these communities.

On this week's update, we only have a short update from a prior TED Talk by Kimberly Stratton, the CEO and Founder of The Crown And Cross Consulting And Publishing Co. LLC. She talks to us about homelessness, and how it's far closer than you might think. She also discussed how the traditional signs of homelessness are no longer reliable in the modern day and age. Whereas before signs of homelessness could be someone that was unclean, or appeared dazed, a homeless person can now look just the same as anyone else. But that doesn't change the fact that they don't have a home and are, in Stratton's words, transient.??
