I had the incredible honor of speaking and performing at TEDxIllinois Tech where I shared one of the most personal and transformative stories of my life—how I found my way back to the piano after a moment of defeat almost made me walk away from performance forever. There was a time when a single performance left me so disheartened that I questioned my love for music and my ability to play. For a while, I couldn’t bring myself to touch the keys. But something within me refused to give up. It was Jean Sibelius’ “Le Sapin” (The Spruce), Op. 75 No. 5, a piece of extraordinary beauty and emotion, that reignited my passion for the piano. Its simple yet powerful melody reminded me why I fell in love with music in the first place. Performing this very piece at the TEDx event was a full-circle moment I will cherish forever. Through this journey, I’ve learned that setbacks are not failures; they are opportunities to grow, rediscover, and come back stronger. To anyone struggling with their passion right now—take a deep breath and remember why you started. Thank you Mohammed Sahil Nitesha Paatil Amy Segami and the rest of the organizing team for making this such a successful and memorable event. #TEDxIllinoisTech #PianoJourney #Resilience #Sibelius #NeverGiveUp #TEDx

Speaking at TEDxIllinois Tech has been a fulfilling and enlightening journey and I am grateful for the blessings. I know what it takes to pull off an event having done conferences in the past, so I understand the work required and hurdles to jump, so congratulations to the organizing committee, your hard work and dedication paid off. I know there were many involved but BIG shout out to Mohammed Sahil, Ankita Pimple, Nitesha Paatil, Radha Prabhakaran, Hamza Mohammed Mohammad Anas Hussain, Mohammed Abrar Ahmed and many others. ? It was also an honour sharing the stage with my fellow speakers with your thought provoking content, thank you so much for inspiring the audience and rekindling my fire for knowledge, learning and innovation: ?Lance Fortnow, Ayra Mudessir, Syda Segovia Taylor, M.A., Adan K Pope, Lorenzo Conti, Matthew Adkins, Mary Grygleski, In the end I think everyone left “Empowered Together”. I connected with Mary Grygleski in preparation for the talk and when we met in person it was like we were old friends lol. Thank you for your energy ?? The musical interludes were pore raising, Kristen Lee your story was captivating so by the time you got to the keyboard I was already invested and you sealed it with a fantastic performance. And the flute and piano duet by Carolyn May and Chris Garofalo was a delightful end for an amazing showcase of talent. ? I am truly honoured and humbled to have been a part of this event and just like ripples in the water, I look forward to the impact of this vibration going forward.
