?? New TEDAI Talk Is Live! Ed Newton-Rex: How AI Models Steal Creative Work - And What to Do About It Generative AI is built on three key resources: people, compute and data. While companies invest heavily in the first two, they often use unlicensed creative work as training data without permission or payment — a practice that pits AI against the very creators it relies on. At TEDAI San Francisco, Ed unpacks this ethical dilemma and proposes a solution: licensing. ?? Watch his TED Talk: https://lnkd.in/d_z2FGxu #TEDAI #AI #GenerativeAI #Copyright #EthicsInAI

The power of the AI community is truly incredible. 2024’s TEDAI San Francisco was amazing and I had the honor of MCing the technical track panels and leading the robots project. I met people with Nobel prizes and the people shaping the future of all these AI tools and capabilities I’ve been teaching about. One thing that continues to inspire me is how AI has fostered such a strong, collaborative community. Every day, I see people creating their own opportunities—not just for themselves, but for others—simply because they want to learn, share, and navigate this evolving space together. Together being the key word. It’s easier than ever to organize an online workshop, panel, or summit on the topics you’re passionate about. So if there’s something you want to explore, build the event you wish existed—you’ll be surprised how many people will show up to learn with you and share their insights. Here are a couple of photos, the last one was from the google labs team that attended the event.
