    In business, the Shift & Drift explains how companies grow, either strategically, or unintentionally, it highlights the difference between a strategic change (Shift) and an unplanned change in consumer preferences (Drift). - Shift: A sudden strategic change happens followed by intentionally changing direction to adapt, grow, or compete. - Drift: A slow unplanned change happens when a company gradually moves away from its original strategy, due to an intense change in consumer preferences. Real-World Examples 1. Shift: The boom demand on weight loss drugs, Ozempic & Wegovy Story: - These drugs were initially created for diabetes but became wildly popular for weight loss. - Demand exploded, causing shortage and price increases. Result: - Novo Nordisk reshaped its strategy accordingly and became Europe’s most valuable pharma company. - Eli Lilly and other competitors rushed to enter the market. - The obesity industry is now expected to reach $100 billion by 2030. 2.     Meet Dr. Salma Elkersh – Our Newest Tectons Advisor!?? We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Salma Elkersh, a dynamic leader with a unique blend of clinical expertise and sales acumen, to Tectons family! Dr. Salma holds a Bachelor’s in Clinical Pharmacy from Cairo University and an MBA in Management from Eslsca Business School (2023). She began her career at Novartis Pharma in 2019, later on, she moved to Novartis Oncology in 2021, where she most recently served as a Senior Disease Area Partner, leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives in oncology. In 2024, Dr. Salma transitioned to the health and fitness sector as Sales Manager at Max Group, before joining Hikma Pharma as a First Line Manager. Throughout her career, Dr. Salma has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and people management skills, successfully overseeing teams, developing talent, and fostering collaboration. Her ability to blend clinical expertise with effective leadership has enabled her to deliver impactful results across diverse sectors in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
