    Artificial Intelligence tools offer great promise for speeding the pace of innovation and their use is growing exponentially, but the wide range of IP issues need to be carefully considered by TTOs and IP practitioners. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gW5ZBAxQ U.S. law is developing rapidly to keep pace with the AI explosion, and as it stands today, a computer cannot be an author under copyright law or an inventor under patent law. But that doesn’t mean that AI-assisted inventions are unpatentable or will be left unprotected. It means that TTOs must carefully review AI system outputs and have procedures in place to confirm that patent claims meet the standard for human inventorship. This on-demand program, led by Charles R. Macedo and Thomas Hart of the New York law firm Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein LLP, is a must-see for tech transfer professionals, faculty inventors, and IP professionals.     The wait is over! The all-new "Tech Transfer Salaries: Comprehensive Data and Analysis – 2025 Edition" has just been published. https://lnkd.in/gaYZpnrt Hiring and staff retention remains a critical factor in operating an efficient and successful technology transfer office (TTO). Accurate, unbiased, and transparent reporting of salaries has long been challenging data to garner. Yet this information is critical for everyone in the office, from institution leadership and TTO directors seeking to successfully bring aboard the best staff within budget, as well as for individual employees to understand their value in the job market. We are proud to publish the 2025 Tech Transfer Salaries Report, an analysis of current documented salaries across TTOs in the US. The report provides current pay rates for a wide range of institutions and analyzes how personal, educational, geographic (e.g., cost-of-living), and other factors impact salaries. The results demonstrate how education can be a strong determinant of pay, including both degrees earned and where one attends college. This report also takes a completely different approach to collecting and analyzing salaries relative to past studies in the technology transfer industry. In the US, salaries of public universities and specific types of non-profits, such as research foundations, are reported publicly. It is a slow, manual process to collect and verify the information across 100s of sources, but one that pays strong dividends in the end.     This is an excerpt from an article in the latest issue of?TechInsight. https://lnkd.in/gHtCHx48 Directors’ pay is on the rise among technology transfer offices (TTOs) across the United States. While increasing pay is a trend beginning back before COVID, compensation plans have become much richer since 2022 alongside notable increases in titles. Leveraging?TechPipeline’s 2025 Tech Transfer Salaries?report, we examined trends in pay for office leaders. In the January issue of?TechInsight, we looked at average salaries across roles and titles in the office for the most recent year available (either 2023 or 2024). The analysis below summarizes changes in compensation since 2019 and how Directors’ salaries have grown both for individuals in the same role and how office leader compensation shifts when a new Director is hired. To conduct this analysis, we collected a broad data set leveraging the public disclosures of compensation across state government and university sources as well as non-profit reporting websites such as?Pro Publica?and others. This approach enables us to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and unbiased (e.g., purposefully omitting or estimating information), all real concerns when relying on self-reported salary information often used in other analyses in the industry. The full?2025 Tech Transfer Salaries?report data set included 129 institutions for current salaries. Of these 129 institutions, we were able to track down salaries back to 2019 for 84 institutions for the analysis below. Lastly, we should note that this analysis is based on the specific person in charge of leading a technology transfer office, which we refer to as the “Director” as a general title. Special attention was paid to this role in each organization chart, particularly in considering the individual’s specific title. Some office leaders are simply listed as Director of Technology Transfer or similar. Other common titles include Associate Vice President of Technology Transfer and Executive Director. (These broader titles may include additional responsibilities, such as managing a venture team, that may not be within the scope of other titles.) We include all of these and similar titles in the analysis below to examine compensation for an individual leading a TTO.
