Attending ASHE New York Metro monthly event - New York City is one of the leading metropolitans in the world in resilient infrastructure. However, New York City is particularly vulnerable to a changing climate due to high population and extensive facilities. We will have a thoughtful discussion on building and maintaining a densely populated space with a panel of experts that bring different view points on how to shape and influence New York City's infrastructure. Our city is experiencing a variety of climate hazards, such as heat, tidal flooding, air pollution, coastal storm surge and extreme rainfall. In the last decade, New York City had to reimagine a different type of living in an urban space. Programs and guidelines have been implemented to help ensure new City infrastructure and public facilities are prepared for the worsening impacts of climate change, such as Local Law 41 (LL41) and Climate Resiliency Design Guidelines. Meeting our climate goals requires us to collectively invest in the City's infrastructure and protect our public transportation and open space.
